​How to Find Sales Tax - STEPS

​1. Convert the sales tax percentage to a decimal by dividing by 100.

​2. Find out how much sales tax will cost. Multiply the cost of the item by the sales tax percentage as a decimal.

​3. If the problem is asking you to find the total cost, add the original cost of the item + the cost of the sales tax.

​A new television cost $900. The sales tax is 9%. Find the cost of the SALES TAX ONLY.
