Untuk menganalisa penyebab terjadinya gerak, tentu kita harus mengetahui parameter-parameter dari gerak tersebut, seperti posisi (s), kecepatan (v), percepatan (a), dan waktu (t). Pertanyaan mengapa benda bergerak itu ternyata bisa dijelaskan dengan baik oleh Sir Isaac Newton dengan konsep gaya.
Untuk menganalisis berbagai masalah dinamika partikel seperti gerak pada bidang datar, bidang miring, sistem katrol, dan masalah lainnya yang masih cukup sederhana. Hukum Newton terbagi menjadi tiga, yaitu Hukum I Newton, Hukum II Newton, dan Hukum III Newton
