1/5 or one divided by five =

0.2

That means each small line is worth 0.2 mL. Now we have to read how much medication we have.

Make your numerator and denominator

We see we have 4 whole mL. But we also see 3 small lines, each being worth 0.2 so if you times 0.2 by 3 we get 0.6 leaving us with a total of 4.6 mL.

9

media

5/5 = 1 so each small line is worth 1 mL. We see we have 10 full mL but we also have 2 small lines after that. Our total volume is 12 mL.

Find your numerator and denominator.

10

Remember to make your numerator and denominator then divide. That's the value of each small line in the syringe. You then need to multiply that value by the number of lines you have filled.

Side note:

  • 1/2 = 0.5

  • 1/4 = 0.25
