Definition:

Pitch is the highness or lowness of a sound. It is determined by the frequency of sound wave vibrations. Pitch is  a major auditory attribute of musical tones, along with duration, loudness and timbre. 

In western music we name musical pitches with the first seven (7) letters of the English alphabet: A, B, C, D, E, F, G. the collection of all the pitches with the same name, say C and all of its octaves, both higher and lower is called the pitch’s pitch class.
