SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

These usually clarify, explain, and illustrate general ideas and statements by referring to particular individuals, numbers, or ideas.​

They tend to express distinct characteristics that define those individuals, numbers or ideas​

Examples:

She has long smooth shiny black hair.

​She is helpful. She is generous.

A dog can encourage exercise.​

​

GENERAL STATEMENTS

These cover broad categories or groups of people or ideas.

They usually express the overall aspects, characteristics, or elements of these categories or groups.

​Examples:

​​My mother is beautiful.

​My mother is a good person.

A dog makes a good pet.​
