Learning about Canadian Money

In Canada, just as in the United States and Thailand, people use kinds of currency (money): paper money, also called banknotes and bills, and coins.

1​¢ (one cent also written $.01)​

5¢​ (five cents also written $.05)

10¢​ (ten cents also written $.10)

25¢​ (twenty-five cents / $.25)

50¢​ (fifty cents / $.50)

$1.00 (one dollar / a dollar)

$2.00 (two dollars)​

Each coin also has a "name". This is what people usually call them, and you need to memorize these.

1​¢ = a penny (it's copper color)

5¢​ = a nickel

10¢​ = a dime

25¢​ = a quarter

50¢​ = a half-dollar

$1..00 = one dollar/a dollar or loonie

$2.00 = two dollars or toonie
