Andrew Jackson: Road to the White House

DC Bound!

After being the governor of Florida, Andrew hung around at home on his plantation in Tennessee called the Hermitage where he owned about 4 dozen slaves, from about 1821-1824. People kept trying to get him to run for President. They were like, “Dude! You’ve got to do this! The way you rolled through Florida?! That was off the hook!”

But Rachel didn’t want Andrew to run for President, so he said he wouldn’t run, but “if elected, I would do my duty and serve”. He was elected a state senator again.

uncouth force. They’re not worried about him, they’re just like, “get out of here”. They think he’s an idiot.

He was blunt with his opinions and also took quick resentment to anyone who disagreed with his opinions. A few months later he went back to Nashville and his supporters still wanted him to be President;  in 1824 Andrew Jackson got 154,000 votes John Quincy Ansel Adams got 109,000 votes.
