All thesis statements must contain a subject, claim and 3 supporting details.
Subject: Tells the reader what the essay is about. This is the topic of your essay.
Claim: Tells the reader your attitude, opinion, point or position about the topic. The claim often tells the reader whether you agree or disagree with a topic.
3 supporting details: Specific points or areas you will discuss to support your claim.

Example Thesis 2: Junk food in schools should be prohibited because it causes health problems, experts and doctors recommend it and students need to eat healthy foods.

3 supporting details: health problems, experts and doctors recommend it and students need to eat healthy foods.
Note: Although all thesis statements must contain a subject, claim and 3 supporting details, these elements do not have to come in that order.
