Participles and Participle Phrases
A participle verb form that functions as a noun, adjective, or an adverb. A participle functions as an adjective when it modifies a noun or a pronoun.
Think of it this way: it looks like a verb, but it functions like a different part of speech.

Past Participles usually end in “-ed”, but can also end in “-en, -d, -t, -n, or -ne”.

Think of any verb and imagine you are currently doing that verb.

The child watched the spinning top. The verb “spinning” acts as an adjective which modifies/describes the top.
We admired the freshly planted flowers. The verb “planted” acts as an adjective which modifies/describes the flowers.
