What/who are Characters?
Characters are the people, animals, or fictional creatures in a story who move the plot along. Events in the plot are often influenced by what the characters say and do with one another.
on the STAAR test you are going to be asked to make inferences about characters and to explain their relationship among other characters.

Making inferences
Sometimes an author states ideas directly. Often, however, an author only gives clues, and the reader must make an inference.

An inference is a conclusion make about something that's not said or written directly. To infer what an author is hinting, reading look at teh detail in a selection and combine that with their own knowledge.
