The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.

Farmers suffered a lot in the Great Depression, the introduction of new machinery had allowed farmers to produce more than they ever had before, but so many farmers were producing so much, that supply far exceeded demand. Consequently, prices fell, and farmers were unable to make any profit from what they produced

​The introduction of buying things on credit was a big cause of the Great Depression. ​People went into debt buying things like cars, appliances, and radios. When the Great Depression started, people were unable to make payments on these items.​

As the depression continued, things got progressively worse. Companies were forced to stop making things that they were unable to sell and had to lay off their workers. The economy worsened as more and more people became out of work.

With over 10,000 banks failing, many people lost all of their money. Even people who had been rich were suddenly penniless, and at that time, the government did not intervene to keep the banks going.

As the economy everywhere in the world was struggling, these countries were unable to pay back their debts, hastening economic decline in the U.S.10. .” It was very fast, and believed to have been a night hunter.​
