Meine perfekte Hochzeit

Today we are learning how to describe your perfect wedding.

You have just learnt some phrases to describe wedding plans.

Ich lade die Gäste ein. (I invite the guests)

Ich suche ein Brautkleid aus. (I choose a wedding dress)

Man wä​hlt die Kirche aus. (You choose the church)

Man legt den Termin fest. (You choose the date)

1. These are called separable verbs. They are made up of a verb and a preposition.

2. The verb goes in second place, and the preposition goes to the end.​

But when we use it in a sentence, we need to separate the two parts of the verb.

We also have verbs like this in English

e.g. abholen means to pick up

Ich hole die Eheringe ab

I pick the wedding rings up

Some verbs are separable in both English and German

E.g. abholen - to pick up

But others are separable in German but not in English

E.g. einladen - to invite
