Most Essential Learning Competency:
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
recall their knowledge on scatter plots and correlation coefficient;
interpret the linear relationship between the variables of a bivariate data by examining its correlation coefficient;
solve problems involving correlation analysis; and
actively participate in the class discussion.

Correlation Coefficient
The Pearson’s sample correlation coefficient (also known as Pearson r), denoted by r, is a test statistic that measures the strength of the linear relationship between two variables.
The correlation coefficient is a number between -1 and 1 that describes both the strength and the direction of correlation. In symbols, we write -1 ≤ r ≤ 1.
