Conceive

Verb (action word)

Definition: to think up or form in the mind (often involves creative thinking)

Example: I conceive lesson plan ideas daily--especially when I'm driving or in the shower.

Example: Have you ever conceived a new idea from a dream that you took action on?​

Example: Maria and Tom wanted a baby, and then they conceived one. ​

Inconceivable

Adjective (describing a noun)

Definition: Impossible to believe or imagine (in means "not" and "able" means "capable of"

Example: When my friend told me that her husband was cheating on her, I told her it was inconceivable.

Example: I find it inconceivable that Nampa School District is banning books.

Example: ​When Roe versus Wade was overturned by the US Supreme Court, many found it inconceivable.

Concept

Noun (person, place, thing, object, idea)

Definition: A general idea or thought

Example: Fairness is a concept that most people understand.

Example: Justice and equity are concepts that many people argue about.

Example: ​The concept of picking up after themselves seems to be a foreign one to my children.

Example: While I understand the concepts behind grammar and language, applying and practicing them is more difficult for me. ​

Conceptualize

Verb (action word)

Definition: The mental act of forming a concept or idea. Conceive and Conceptualize are synonyms (close in meaning)

Example: When inventors conceptualize solutions to problems, they create new inventions.

Example: You may be asked to conceptualize solutions when problems come up at work.

Example: ​It seems like the only thing children do from ages 2-4 are conceptualize ways to make a mess.
