What do you think would be good qualities of a social worker?

Social workers absolutely can be therapists, in fact many of us want to do therapy. This is known as clinical social work.​

These social workers are hired by the state to keep children safe. Sometimes they do home removals, but that is a last resort.​

What does social work mean to me?​

• ​A profession, not just a major

• Helping out my community and learning about its unique needs

• Exploring social service providers and learning about the way resources are distributed at a local and county level

  • This is what I will be doing at my internship!​

• Thinking critically about institutions and how they may harm marginalized groups

Not all social workers have to care about being licensed or doing clinical work

And that's the part of social work that I get excited about

• Social work is so much more than just clinical

  • ​Although many programs and people treat it like it is​

• People with social work degrees don't necessarily have to be in positions where they are called a "social worker"- like Ms. Castro!

• I am interested in the part of it called Management and Policy​

• Social work is a great vehicle for change because you can use it to gain better understanding of the policies that govern our everyday lives​

So what is PM Anthony going to do?

• Field placement in the fall and spring (15 hours a week)

  • I am learning about the social services in Burlington County and how to perform outreach in a public library system​

• Graduate with BSW in Spring 2023

• Looking into MSW program at Rutgers

• I want to be a program coordinator, library social worker, or professor
