What are past simple regular verbs?

Past simple tense verbs are used to talk about completed actions in the past.

Regular simple past tense verbs are easy to form – you add “ed” to the end of the verb

(e.g. I play guitar –> I played guitar).

Note: Verbs ended in vowel+consonant double the consonant: (e.i. I skip classes -> I skipped​

Regular Verbs Ending with an ‘e’

Sometimes regular verbs end in the letter 'e'. In that case, we just add the letter 'd' to form the simple past.

(e.i. I arrive at school at 6 o'clock ->I arrived at school at 6 o' clock)

Regular Verbs Ending with ‘y’

​Verbs that end in the letter 'y' have to change this letter to 'i'. Then, we add the ending 'ed'

(e.i. I copy the lesson from the board -> I ​copied the lesson from the board.)

Note: To the verbs that end in a vowel + the letter 'y' , we don't change it and add the ending 'ed' as the rule says.​ (ex: I enjoy -> I enjoyed)
