How to find Latitude

  • Latitude is always measured from North or South of the equator (0 degrees)

  • The lines of latitude run horizontally (Latitude Flat-itude)

  • To find latitude, follow the lines horizontally with your mouse from out point to the number of degrees on the side of the map

  • In the picture, our point at 20 degrees North- always remember to include the cardinal directions

media

16

Sometimes latitude and longitude will not be exactly on one of the drawn out lines- Here's what to do!

You've got to do a little math (sorry!)
On this map we can see that the point is between 110 and 120 degrees W- so we need to find the middle point: 115 degrees W
