Descriptive text is a meaningful text that describes experiences related to the senses, such as shape, sound, taste. Most descriptive texts are about visual experiences, but actually experiences other than the sense of sight, we can also use them to create descriptive texts.​

• Specific participant: has a specific object, not general. For example Borobudur Temple.

• The use of adjectives to clarify nouns (nouns). For example a handsome man.

• The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present because it tells the facts of the object being described.

• Action verbs: some verbs indicate an activity. For example cut

The koala is an iconic Australian animal. Often called the koala “bear,” this tree-climbing animal is a marsupial—a mammal with a pouch for the development of offspring.

Though koalas look fuzzy, their hair is more like the coarse wool of a sheep. They have two opposing thumbs on their hands, and both their feet and hands have rough pads and claws to grab onto branches. They have two toes, fused together, on their feet, which they use to comb their fur.​
