QUESTION

The standard score is the number of standard deviations an observation is away from the mean. Hence, a positive standard score indicates that an observation is above the mean. while a negative standard score indicates that an observation is below the mean. it is a dimensionless quantity obtained by subtracting the population mean from an individual raw score and then dividing the difference by the population standard deviation, this is called standardizing or normalizing. In which of the following situation will the value of “a” be positive number?

A. P(z>a) = 0.90

B. P(z>a)=0.99

C. P[z<a] = 0.50
