Conjuguer les verbes -ER

By now you should know that verbs change endings depending on the subject doing the action. This is called conjugation. To conjugate -ER verbs, remove the -ER ending and add the following:

  • When JE is the subject, the verb ends with -E.

  • When TU is the subject, the verb ends with -ES

  • When IL or ELLE is the subject, the verb ends with -E

  • When ILS or ELLES is the subject, the verb ends with -ENT

infinitive verb vs conjugated verb

An infinitive verb is the unconjugated form of the verb, in this case, with an -ER ending. Infinitives are used when there is more than one verb in a sentence. Only the first verb is conjugated. You see this often with opinion statements.

Ex-- J'aime jouer aux jeux vidéo.

Tu détestes manger le brocoli.

Elle adore écouter la musique classique.
