When it comes to types of punctuation, how many can you name?

Besides periods, commas may be the most common punctuation. They're used for a pause rather than a hard stop like a period, and they create clarity.
Commas
Colons communicate the idea of "that is to say" or "here's what I mean.
Colons
Work similarly to a comma, but the pause is slightly longer, though slightly less than a period.
Semi-Colons

1) Men, women, and children are all part of the human population.
2) Do you want to meet up on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday?
3) For the Thanksgiving dessert, do you want pie, cobbler, pudding, or ice cream?
Remember: commas indicate a pause and help create clarity.
