• A grammatical series is a group of three or more words, phrases, and clauses of the same kind that appear in a row in a sentence.

​Series can be written with adjectives, but...

• ​These sentences are long, boring, and lame.

• ​Instead, use two adjectives, and separate them with a comma!

​Comma Rules when Writing a Series

• Place a comma after each item in the series, except the last.

• The final comma is called the OXFORD COMMA, and while some find it debatable, we consider it required!

​Using Logic in Series

• All items in a series must be the same part of speech.

• If possible, write your series in some kind of logical order!
