Indian Removal Act
President Jackson forced Native Americans to vacate lands they had lived on for generations starting the “Trail of Tears” . Native Americans made the journey on foot without any food, supplies, or help from the government (some were even bound in chains and marched in double file lines). Thousands of people died along the way.
