Factoring Quadratics with a=1

Multiple Choice

Factor: $$x^{2\ }-36$$

hint: this can be written $$x^2+0x-36$$

• cannot be factored

Same process as before with 2 extra steps:

At the beginning, multiply a and c.

At the end, divide your factors by a.

Factoring Quadratics when a is not 1
