What types of energy are there in the pendulum?
6
The total energy stays the same.
Most important types of energy in this pendulum are gravitational potential energy and mechanical kinetic energy.
The gravitational potential energy increases the higher the pendulum is because it has farther to fall.
The mechanical kinetic energy increases because the ball is moving as fast as it can.
7
When you lift an object higher it takes energy to do that. It can be tiring to climb stairs!
When an object falls down it changes that stored energy from gravity into motion, which is mechanical kinetic energy.
Transformation from Gravitational Potential Energy to Mechanical Kinetic Energy.
8
How can this skater gain energy to go fast in this half pipe?
What happens to all that energy when she reaches the bottom?
Please make sure to write down the questions and the answers in your notebooks.
