To find the distance we subtract the x-values.

Distance= 10 - 2 = 8 units

Distance = $$\sqrt[]{\left(8\ -2\right)^2+\left(9-2\right)^2}$$

Distance = $$\sqrt[]{6^2\ +\ 7^2}\ \ =\ \sqrt[]{36\ +\ 49}$$

Distance = $$\sqrt[]{85}$$
