5
There are different types of computer network namely;
LAN (Local Area Network) - A type of computer
network within a specific area or vicinity. For example,
computers inside the school connected to one another
is considered as LAN.
MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) - A type of
computer network within the town or city.
WAN (Wide Area Network) - This type of computer
network is the largest because it it a global
interconnection of computers. An example of this is the
Internet.
6
Multiple Select
Select the devices that you think can be setup in a computer network.
Printer
Scanner
Speaker
Smartphone
7
MODEM, router etc are all computer network
devices. To connect computer to another
computer you could use either a cable or signal
as your medium.
So how computer network happens?
Sherwin C. Maningas

LAN Cable
LAN Cable
10
A type of Ethernet cable used to connect devices within a local network, such as a home or office network.
It is also known as an Ethernet cable or a network cable.
LAN Cable

14
Multiple Choice
What does the acronym UTP stands for?
UnTwisted Pair
Unique Technology Pair
Unshielded Twisted Pair
Uniform Tech Privatization
15
What are the Equipment, tools and materials
needed in Connecting two computers using
wired connection?
Sherwin C. Maningas
16
RJ45
RJ means Registered jack. This is a standard physical Network Interface used for
connecting telecommunications equipment commonly, a computer networking
equipment.
Sherwin C. Maningas
17
UTP CABLE
The cheapest cable use in computer in networking is the UTP (Unshielded
Twisted Pair) cable. Other use the STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cable which is
cost much than UTP but more reliable.
Sherwin C. Maningas
18
CRIMPER
Crimping tool is used to join the RJ-45 and RJ-11 connectors to the both ends of
either phone or CAT5 cable.
Sherwin C. Maningas
19
WIRE STRIPPER
A tool designed to remove the protective covering (jacket)
off of a cable to expose the inner wires. Because different
wires come in different shapes, there are dozens of
different wire strippers available.
Sherwin C. Maningas
20
LAN TESTER
A cable tester is a
device that is used to
test the strength and
connectivity of a
particular type of cable
or other wired
assemblies.
Sherwin C. Maningas
21
COMPUTERS with Network
Interface Card Adapter
Sherwin C. Maningas
22
Short for Network Interface Card,
the NIC is also referred to as an
Ethernet card and network
adapter. It is an expansion card
that enables a computer to
connect to a network;
Sherwin C. Maningas
23
Most of the
motherboard nowadays
have already a built-in
LAN Adapter (LAN Port)
