Qu'est-ce que can only go at the beginning of the question.

Quoi can go at the end of the question or it can be the object of the prepositions à or de.

The subject and verb must be inverted. Que and Qu' mean "what".

Qu'est-ce que goes at the beginning of the question. It means "what". The subject and verb cannot be inverted.
