Time to review the simplest 4 types of words
we use.
Part 1

Nouns
Noun:names a person, place, thing, animal, or idea.
#1 Common noun: not capitalized, non specific.
#2 Proper noun: names a specific noun, always
capitalized.
#3 Concrete noun: person, place, thing (can be hit by
concrete)
#4 Abstract noun: ideas (cannot be hit by concrete)

Adjective Roles:
Adjectives: words that describe or modify nouns.
ex: new, great, orange
Role #1: Tell what kind.
ex: smart, red, quiet
Role #2: Tell which one.
ex: that, this, these, those
Role #3: Tell how many.
ex: four, couple, both, pair
*Proper Adjectives: Proper nouns that are used as
adjectives sometimes. So we capitalize them!
ex: American, Chinese, European

Verb: action or state of being. It’s what you do.
Tense: shows when something happens
Past: -ed
Present: no ending, -s, -ing
Future: add modal helping verb before verb
Modal verbs: Helping verbs that add intention to verbs.
ex: can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must, ought to
Helping verbs: add meaning, tense, or count to verbs.
TO BE: is, am, are, was, were, be, been, being
TO HAVE: have, had, has
TO DO: do, did, does.
