Why did Hard-Bop happen?
The younger generation of musicians that grew up listening to Be-Bop's intense and extremely fast tempos wanted to do something different. New music emerged in the 1950s called Rock n' Roll and as a result, Jazz was losing its audience.
To attract more people to listen to Jazz, musicians changed the way they wrote melodies and rhythm. They wanted people to move and groove to the music again.
Let's listen to Horace Silver's composition "Señor Blues"
