e.g. - Ana works at an office.

  • Pedro watches YouTube art videos every day. (s/sh/ch sound).

  • Biology studies life. (consonant + y)

NEGATIVE SENTENCES

Use an auxiliary (don't or doesn't)

e.g.

  • I don't like trap music. (I, you, we, they: don't)

  • She doesn't like pop music. (he, she, it: doesn't)

Don't add -s, -es, or -ies when using doesn't.

QUESTIONS

Use an auxiliary (do / does) for a question:

Do you speak French? (I, you, we, they: Do)

Does she speak French? (He, she, it: Does)

Don't add -s, -es, or -ies when using does.

Put "do" or "does" after the WH- question word:

Adverbs of frequency

After the verb to be / Before the other verbs

e.g.

  • Jimmy is always late.

  • Sandra usually cooks for herself rather than eating at restaurants.

  • It's good to do exercise sometimes. ("Sometimes" can go at the beginning or at the end of the sentence, or before the verb.)

  • Use "do" to emphasise the action.

  • Use "make" to emphasise the result.

  • Do (more intellectual)

  • Make (use of the hands)

  • Do (performing, acting)

  • Make (converting, transforming)

  • Check the collocations with do and make.

THE PRONOUN "ONE" / "ONES"

After demonstrative pronouns:

I like this speaker, but the other one is more beautiful.

Use one/ones to make the sentence more specific or to emphasise when you are talking about a particular thing/things.

All the rules are important, but these ones are the most important ones.
