40. 1st Grade SSR: Chick Quits

Chick picks lots and lots. Chick fills big bins, big sacks, and a big box. It is such a big job! She lugs in the bins, sacks, and box.

Chop, chop, chop! Mix, mix, mix! Mix, mix, mix! Chop, mix, chop! Chick fills pots. Chick uses every dish. Chick mops up the big mess.

Chick is sad. “This is such a big mess!” Chick sobs. “I miss Duck! I wish I did not sell jam and dip! I will quit. Let me tell Ox.”

“I quit, Ox,” Chick tells him. “It is not fun to sell Chick Jam and Chick Dip. It is too much!” Ox is sad, but Chick quits.

Chick tells Duck she quit. “Can we play chess?” Chick begs him. “I will be as quick as I can,” Duck quacks. Duck gets his chess set.

Duck sets up chess men. Chick gets a big dish. It has nuts in it. “I am sick of jam and dip!” said Chick. “Pass the nuts, Chick,” quacks Duck.
