88. 1st Grade SRR: Home Sweet Home

“It is time to head home,” said Mom, “but let’s get one last thing. Who wants an ice cream cone?”

Rose and Luke do! Rose got fudge ice cream. Luke chose mint ice cream for his cone. Mom had lime ice cream.

“My cone drips a lot,” said Luke.

“Lick it up fast,” said Rose. “If it drips, it will make a big mess.”

Luke cannot catch all his ice cream drips. He gets just a bit on his pants.

“Let me help, Luke,” said Rose.

Mom, Rose, and Luke pass the goats again. Rose and Luke pat Snow. Mom gets some goat cheese.

Then Coal takes a bite of the leeks in Mom’s bag.

“Stop that, Coal!” laughs Mom.

Big raindrops fell upon Rose’s head.

“It is going to rain,” said Mom. “Let’s get home fast.”

Rose, Luke, and Mom race down the road and rush up their steps.

Rose and Luke wipe their feet on the mat, go inside, and pull off their wet raincoats.

“I will make nice hot tea and toast,” said Mom. “I will use wheat bread for the toast and add goat cheese.”

“I had fun, Rose,” said Luke. “It is fun to shop with you and Mom.”

“I hope we will see Snow and Coal the next time we go,” said Rose.

“And that ice cream man and the woman with the lunches!” added Luke.
