Definition:
The dictionary meaning of a
word.
Example:

Definition:
An event taking place before the
present time in the narrative.

towards the audience, the
subject, or the character
Example:

• Commanding or Bossy • Secretive • Loving • Angry

Definition:
TThe overall atmosphere of a piece of
literature.
The mood is created by the setting, the
characters, and their actions
Example:
You can say the same phrase in different ways, each
showing a different attitude or tone. Try saying,
