The simple past is a verb tense that is used to talk about actions or events that
happened in the past. Regular verbs form the simple past by adding -ed to the base
form of the verb, but there are some irregular verbs with different forms. The simple
past can also describe past habits and generalizations, or actions that happened one
after the other in the past.
