What is action research?

• a form of enquiry that enables practitioners everywhere to investigate and evaluate their work (McNiff & Whitehead, 2006)

• systematic procedures done by teachers (or other individuals in an educational setting) to gather information about and subsequently improve the ways their particular educational setting operates, their teaching, and their student learning (Mills, 2013)

• A dynamic process: involve interations of activities

• A plan of action: in response to the problem

• Sharing research: share the results locally with teachers, principal, education personnel, parents

• A practical focus: to solve an immediate, applied problem

• The educator-researcher's own practices: engage in participatory or self-reflective research
