NOTE Past simple

  1. When we give a period of time, we use the past simple, not "used to".

    Example: Correct: I studied in Spain for a month.

    Incorrect: I used to study in Spain for a month.

  2. We cannot use "used to" and "would" to talk about single events in the past. In this case, we use the past simple.

    Example: Correct: I came to Spain a month ago.

    Incorrect: I used to come to Spain a month ago.
