Revelstoke, then known as Farwell, was founded in 1885. Like wild west town in the movies, there was one main business street named Front Street. In 1886, Farwell was renamed to Revelstoke in honor of a Lord Revelstoke. In March of 1899, Revelstoke was incorporated as a city.
