Define subsistence and commercial agricuture.

Subsistence Agriculture: This is a type of farming where rearing of animals and planting of crops is solely for the farmer and his family.

Commercial Agriculture: This is a type of farming where cultivation of crops and rearing of livestock is perform in large quantity for sale.

Characteristics of subsistence agriculture

i.               It requires small capital.

ii.             It requires small land.

iii.          Simple implements are used.

iv.           Labour is provided by the farmer and the family

v.             Yield or produce is low.

Characteristics of commercial agriculture

i.                  It requires large capital.

ii.               Large area of land is cultivated.
