How can the activity help you to understand journalism?

It is a form of communication that keeps the target audience informed, updated and entertained of the current events, issues, and character-profiles around the world.

The word journal comes from the Latin word diurnal which means “daily”.

These were called acta diurnal which meant “daily events”.

Webster defines journalism as “the occupation of writing publication in newspapers and other periodicals.”

Fraser F. Bond, on the other hand, defines it as “something that embraces all forms in which or through which the news and comments on the news reach the public.”

Medium of Delivery

This kind of journalism deals with publishing news through television or radio.

Cyber journalism, online journalism or digital journalism is the latest type of journalism. As the name suggests, this deals with delivering the news on different internet platforms.

This type of journalism deals with delivering news through newspapers, magazines, etc.

Since these media can hold the same news or information as other mediums, a journalist can work for both prints as well as some other media at the same time.

This is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight such as comics, entertaining feature stories and feature photos add diversion to hard news.

The public needs information about products, goods and services. The news does this but so does advertising.

This is used to get news from neighbors on a person-to-person basis and to pass along the news about their world in which people use today.

• Online journalism deals with delivering news on different internet platforms such as YouTube, Google, and Facebook.

• Print journalism deals with delivering news in printed forms like newspapers and magazines.
  Journalism is an avenue that stimulates public discussions, creates arrays of factual and reliable information, and entertains the target audience (listeners, readers or netizens) through varieties of articles presented in different modalities.
