Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah Be Pleased With
Him) narrated that,
The prophet()SAID: Avoid sitting on the
ways. They (the Companions) said: Allah's
Messenger, we cannot help but hold our
meetings (in these ways) and discuss matters
(there). Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may
peace be upon him) said: If you insist on holding
meetings, then give the way its due right. They
said: What are its due rights ? Upon this he said:

1. Lowering the gaze. (Ghadd Al Basr)
2. Refraining from doing harm(Kaf Al Atha)
3. Returning the greeting. (Radd As-Salam)
4. Commanding the good. (Al Amr Bel Ma’roof)
5. Forbidding the wrong. (Al Nahi An Al Mankar)

by whether they are men or women. Allah (ﻰﻟﺎﻌﺗوﮫﻧﺎﺣﺑﺳ) ordered the
Muslims to lower their gaze as this ayahexplains:

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and
guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed,
Allah is Acquainted with what they do.”
