MANAGING YOUR SOFTWARE: Getting the right software and Installing/Uninstalling

GETTING THE RIGHT SOFTWARE

It’s your responsibility to check compatibility

Check system requirements such as OS, processor, primary memory, and hard drive
capacity

Keep in mind that some software is backward compatible so that older files can be
opened with newer versions of software and forward compatible so that newest version is
not always necessary

MANAGING YOUR SOFTWARE: Getting the right software and Installing/Uninstalling

INSTALLING/UNINSTALLING

Installations can be performed from download or DVD installation (trickier today)

FULL INSTALLATION means the most commonly used files will be stored on your hard
drive

CUSTOM INSTALLS allow you to pick and choose what you will save

UNINSTALLING software removes it from your hard drive
