-Foreign Policy begins in the Revolutionary War.
-US sends ambassadors to France, Spain, & the Netherlands.

-They are successful, France joins the US in the war and helps to assure US Independence.

​History of US Foreign Policy

-George Washington only wants economic foreign policy, does not want to get involved in foreign wars.

-Jefferson makes the Louisiana Purchase from France in an act of Economic foreign policy.

-After the war of 1812 America becomes a foreign policy partner with England (called the Anglo American peace)

-The Monroe Doctrine outlines American Foreign policy (calls for European powers to stay out of the western hemisphere)
