Present Perfect Simple

Present Perfect Simple Tense

• We often use present perfect to talk about recent past and its relationship with the present

  • Example: 'I've cleaned the fridge, so now it looks new.'

• We don't say exactly when things happened, e.g I've cleaned the fridge, NOT I've cleaned the fridge ten minutes ago.

• We also often use the present perfect to to give recent news.

Using 'Just' with Present Perfect Simple

• We use just with the present perfect in positive sentence to say something happened very recently. We put just before the main verb.

• Example:

  • I've just finished my homework.

  • She has just completed her project.

Using 'Yet' with Present Perfect Simple

• We use yet with the present perfect in negative and question sentences, to ask if something has happened or to say if it hasn't happened.

• We put yet at the end of sentence.

• Example:

  • Have you finished your homework yet? No, no yet.

Forming Questions with Present Perfect Simple

• Use 'have/has' + subject + past participle
• Have you seen the movie?
• Has she finished her homework?
• Use 'wh-' words to form 'wh-' questions
• What have you done?
• Where has he been?

Using 'Already' with Present Perfect Simple

• We use already in positive sentences to say that something happened before now or earlier than expected.

• We put already before the main verb.

• Example:

  • I've already seen that movie three times.
