What are the functions of the skin?

The functions of the skin are…

The skin acts as a “protective membrane” over the body,
acting as a shield for deeper tissues of the body against
pathogens, extreme loss of water, heat, and salts.

The skin also has two type of glands. Sebaceous glands
and sweat glands. The sebaceous glands produce an oily
secretion called sebum, and the sweat glands produce
sweat.

And the third is the nerve fibers in your skin that picks
up on pain, temperature, pressure, and touch.
