Look at the following words and try to identify the similarities between each pair

• study / dusty

• thing / night

• car / arc

What is an anagram?

a word, phrase, or name formed by rearranging the letters of another, such as silent, formed from listen.

Both silent and listen contain the same letters: S, I, T, L, E, N

Let us revisit these three pairs of word. Do you see the similarities now?

• study / dusty

• thing / night

• car / arc

Phrases or Words?

Anagrams do not only need to be words. It can also be used for phrases.

For example:

Dormitory = Dirty room

Why should we learn about anagrams?

Learning about anagrams actually has its own benefits. What are some benefits that you can think of?

Benefits of learning about anagrams:

• Improve vocabulary

• Improve spelling

• Makes writing more interesting

Activity Time!

You will be given a word and you are to come up with an anagram of the word based on the hint given.​

Change "BEARD" into something you can eat.

Answer: BREAD
