Three formulas to review...
There are more than 3, but we will focus on these.
Here is a quick explanation and practice. PLEASE take good notes. And remember... this is just a review. For a more in-depth explanation, please see me or check out YouTube for more details.

The verb IR means "to go"
It's irregular in ALL of the present tense forms, so you just have to memorize them

Sometimes "a" means "to" as in "I am going TO school." or "Voy a la escuela." This is NOT one of the formulas. Just another way to use a to say where someone is going TO.

A formula that we use to talk about the future is ir + a + infinitive. This tells us what someone is GOING to do in the future. Here the "a" does not translate to mean anything. You just have to have it.

Tener vs. Tener que
'Tener' by itself shows you possess something or HAVE something
'Tener + que' indicates an obligation that you HAVE TO do something.

3. Teresa tiene que hacer la tarea.
4. Tienes que acostarte a las 10:00 en punto.

(to talk about obligation for people in general)

Hay + que + infinifitve = (someone has to)
To express a general obligation without mentioning THE PERSON WHO has to do it, use this formula:
Hay que + infinitivo
Hay que pasar la aspiradora.
Hay que cortar el césped.
Notice that we do not know WHO has to do it, just that it has to get done.
This would mean that "one should do it" or "people in general" should do it.
