Reasons for the American Revolution

Colonists were forced to pay taxes on printed items. They were not in agreement because nobody asked their opinion on what should be taxed. "No taxation without representation"

The Stamp Act (March 1765)

The British created new tax acts. Now, everything that was imported was taxed including lead, paper, tea, paint, and glass.​

The Townshend Acts (June-July 1767)

A disagreement between a colonist and a British soilder got head up and ended up in someone shooting. Five people died. Twelve people where taken into custody. No punishment were given to anyone.

Boston Massacre (March 1770)

Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans boarded the British ship and dumped the tea to the ocean.

Boston Tea Party (Dec 1773)

This was a consequence from the Boston Tea Party. Quartering Act, Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act.

Coercive Acts/ Intolerable Acts (March-June 1774)

This was the battle that started after Paul Revere's ride. The British Army was on its way to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock. They were believed to be "radical leaders". The Minutemen stood up and fought the British Army. Paul Revere, Samuel Prescott, and William Dawes were in charge of letting the Patriots know about the British Army coming.
