  • As-Salamu alaikum – means peace be on you (May you be safe from evil)

  • Wa Rahmatul-lāhi – means and Allāh’s mercy (be on you)

  • Wa barakātuh – means and Allāh’s blessing (be on you)

  • All together it means: may Allāh’s peace, mercy and blessing be up on you.

Al-Bara'  reported the Messenger of Allāh  said: “No two Muslims meet and shake hands, but their sins will be forgiven (by Allāh) before they leave each other.”(Declared sound by Abu Dawood)

(i.e. Allāh  forgives minor sins but major sins require sincere repentance)
