Coordinates

​Coordinates are numbers that help us find a place on a grid, just like a map helps us find places in the world!

Let's take a look at some coordinates on the next slide

​A coordinate grid has two lines:

1️⃣ The x-axis (goes left and right)

2️⃣ The y-axis (goes up and down)

⭐ Where the two lines meet is called the origin (0,0).

​Coordinates are written as (x, y).
🔹 First number (x-axis): Move left or right.
🔹 Second number (y-axis): Move up or down. 📌

Example: (2,1)

• Move 2 steps right.

• Move 1 steps up.
